Poem by KAINE COTTON
by 10tonn on Jun.16, 2009, under Poems
They say the future is ours,do well at school be good have fun and abide by the rules
Success is for winners and failure for fools
But the streets where I live they have different rules
Boarded up houses, burnt out cars, children with babies and junkies with scars
Frightened old folk with fear in their eyes, the community spirit is starting to die
Who are you looking at as I pass by
I bow my head and try to hide
I look the other way and keep on walking
The boy with the phone just keeps on talking
Money passes hands and items exchanged, who took more than their share and who took the same
Voices rose! You show me respect
A flash of steel sinks into his chest, another statistic to add to the rest
Sirens echo and the street is sealed off
A parents heartbreak for the child they have lost
Our streets stained with pain that is the cost
The blood washed away a new day begins who will step forward
Who shall be king?

Poem: Why do you judge me
by eleanorps on May.12, 2009, under Poems
JUDGING OTHERS,….LOOK AT YOURSELF
Look at her, with her ugly grey hair,
Hahahah, they laugh,
As they smoke and stare,
Baited breath, runny nose,
It’s raining in the alley way.
“What do you suppose?”
Says the girl with the hat,
“I think we should mug her,
She looks like a twat”
So off they set to do the deed,
They got what they wanted, hurt her
And left, with a satisfied greed
The next day the very same girl with the hat,
Was walking down the street,
When she saw a black cat,
She got frightened and judged it based on it’s
Dark complexion,
Rumors of the colour
Have spread like infection
She screams and runs like a pussy in a hole
As the phrase goes,
To the job centre, to collect her dole.
The person behind the counter happened to have seen her mug
The poor old lady the day before,
Poor thug.
She called the police and grassed her up
The hat girl was sentenced, and away she went, locked up.
You know if you judge people, before you judge yourself,
Life will judge you, and you will end up in your own prison cell.
Who are you to judge me,
Based on the way I look,
So you think you know me,
But believe me your will be shook
At the realness in life,
People aren’t WHAT THEY SEEM,
Don’t judge a book by it’s cover.
One day your book will be read.
The reader will JUDGE you, based on the judgments you have felt and said.
Matthew 7:3
“Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?
